About Us

The Diabetes Foundation of Mississippi is the state's premier nonprofit health organization providing diabetes research, information, patient services and advocacy. The mission of the Foundation is to provide hope through research, programs and service to the 346,500 Mississippians with diabetes. The Diabetes Foundation of Mississippi is the one diabetes organization totally dedicated to all Mississippians from our children to our seniors, who live with diabetes. One hundred percent of the funds raised by the Foundation stay in the state to fund research and educational programs and to provide services. And, ninety-one cents of every dollar raised goes towards the Foundation's charitable purposes.

We are Mississippi's Diabetes Team working for all Mississippians. We were chartered in Mississippi in 1965 as the Diabetes Association of Mississippi by a group of local Mississippi physicians. For the next 25 years, the DFM was the American Diabetes Association Mississippi affiliate until 1998. February 10, 1998, the Board of Directors voted to become the Diabetes Foundation of Mississippi. The Foundation has been able to expand our services to the grassroots level. The Foundation is better able to serve Mississippians with diabetes and provide more programs statewide and research at University of Mississippi Medical Center.

The DFM is the one organization totally dedicated to all Mississippians, who live with diabetes as well as their families. Every dollar raised by the DFM stays in the state to fund research and educational programs and to provide services.

Through our three locations in Jackson, Oxford and Hattiesburg, the DFM strives to better serve Mississippians with diabetes; provide more programs statewide; and increase research at the University of Mississippi Medical Center!
