Hammacher Schlemmer
In tests conducted by the Hammacher Schlemmer Institute, this blood pressure monitor was rated the best because it was the most accurate of all the units examined. A medical professional was commissioned to administer blood pressure tests to panelists using a mercurial sphygmomanometer, and the results were compared to the blood pressure readings from leading consumer models. The best wrist blood pressure monitor was the only one that recorded a systolic reading that matched the nurse's results, while other models deviated by as much as 9.4%. The device uses a methodology recommended by the American Heart Association; it takes three consecutive blood pressure readings and averages the results for optimal accuracy. Scoring highest for features, it has a large LCD that displays easy-to-follow instructions, the cuff inflates and deflates automatically, it can be used in five languages, and its internal memory is capable of storing 30 readings for two people (60 total). Includes travel case, USB cable, PC-compatible software (Windows? 98 SE, 2000, and XP) that automatically charts your blood pressure results, and two AAA batteries. Unit fits wrist circumferences of 5 1/3" to 7 2/3". (1 lb.)
