HealthEast Diabetes Care offers education and training to help you and your family manage diabetes, whether it's type 1, type 2 or gestational diabetes.

Since 1993, we have met the national standards for diabetes education.
Diabetes programs

* Healthy eating

* Exercise and weight management

* Stress management

* Blood glucose testing

* Insulin management -
Through this outpatient program, you learn the skills necessary to safely manage the use of insulin.

* Managing type 2 diabetes -
Approximately 90 percent of all cases of diabetes are people with type 2. Risk factors include being overweight, over the age of 40 and having a family history of diabetes.

This comprehensive program provides you with the skills and knowledge to safely manage type 2 diabetes through diet, exercise, oral medication or insulin.

* Managing pregnancy and diabetes -
We provide medical care and education to women who have diabetes during pregnancy, whether it's gestational or pre-existing. Through Diabetes Care, you will have the opportunity to consult with a doctor who specializes in diabetes. We teach you the skills to help you have a safe pregnancy and a healthy baby.

Working together

In partnership with your doctor, our staff of professionals - certified diabetes educators, pharmacists and exercise specialists - offer education and training to help you and your family manage diabetes.
Insurance

Most of our programs require either a doctor's recommendation or referral. Health insurance companies typically cover a portion of the cost for the services provided.

If you don't have insurance, you may qualify to have a portion of the services covered through a scholarship program established by the Lions 5M-6 Clubs and HealthEast Foundation. Donations to this program can be made by contacting Diabetes Care.
