Free Legal Counseling
Free legal counseling is provided to Johnson County seniors as a service of the Johnson County legal
community and the Senior Center. Johnson County residents 50 years of age and older are encouraged
and invited to schedule an appointment with a volunteer attorney by calling the Senior Center at 356-5220.

Volunteer Attorneys will not do wills, but they will look over a living will or health care power of attorney. The
volunteer attorneys do not provide the forms. People can obtain them by calling or writing to the Iowa State
Bar Association at:

SHIIP
The Senior Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) is a program of the Iowa Insurance Division.

SHIIP offers guidance and advice to Medicare-eligible seniors who have questions or concerns about Medicare coverage,
supplements, claims filing and other items.
