Diabetes Support Group is primarily for middle-aged and senior persons with Type 2 diabetes. This interactive support group, facilitated by a certified diabetes educator, provides participants with information about how to more effectively control blood glucose levels. Participants are encouraged to share their feelings and coping strategies. Free sessions are held the first Tuesday of each month from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Community Education Classroom on the second floor of the hospital. No registration is required. If you are newly diagnosed with diabetes, our center for education can teach you the skills you will need to make better food choices, plan enjoyable exercise, monitor your blood glucose levels, understand the medications you are taking, and prevent complications. If you have had diabetes for some time, come to us to become a better diabetes self manager. We see patients individually Monday through Friday and teach group classes on Tuesday evenings from 6:00pm-8:00pm. Insulin instruction will be given with a written order from the physician stating the type and dosage of insulin.
