Camp 1: It’s Showtime! Riding Camp - AGES 7-12
This camp is for the truly dedicated rider who is ready to polish his or her saddle and head into the show ring! It is a great option for CTRC riders and returning campers of all abilities who are passionate about riding. A visiting judge will let campers know some secrets for doing well in the riding ring. Participants will also learn more about horse feed and care and will learn from a veterinarian and blacksmith at work. Participants will also enjoy a selection of activities from the Round Up Riding Camps, including painting and bathing horses, journal making and storytelling.
Camp 2: Round Up Riding Camp- AGES 5-12
We’ve rounded up all the skills you need to know to be an excellent rider and horseperson and put them into this two-week camp. Choose from two camps for ages 5-12 and one teen camp. Both new and returning campers will have a chance to learn new things and improve their riding. Campers ride the same horse each day and learn what kind of care their horses need on a daily basis. Participants take part in hands-on experiential activities that help them have fun and gain confidence while working with horses and being part of a group. We will observe horse behavior, discuss colors and breeds and learn the names of the equipment we use to ride. Activities may also include painting horses, bathing, braiding manes and tails, and roping. Arts and Crafts will include leather journal making, storytelling with puppets, music making and work with clay.
Camp 3: Using All Our Senses to Ride - AGES 5-12
A four-day camp that focuses on the therapeutic value of horseback riding for children with sensory integration and attention issues. In addition to taking part in specialized activities to get more in tune with their bodies, participants will also gain riding and horse care skills. Riding, grooming, feeding and other farm "chores" are all fun, rewarding activities that stimulate the mind and the senses in positive ways.
Camp 4: Round Up Riding Camp for Teens - AGES 12-19
This camp is for teens who love to ride and want to take on more responsibility for the care of their horses. In addition to grooming, tacking and riding their horses, participants will learn how to effectively and safely handle these large animals from the ground. We will discuss different horse professions and learn from a visiting veterinarian and blacksmith. Campers will also roll up their sleeves to do some painting and barn chores (a perennial favorite!). Through daily writing and drawing exercises, participants will make a record of their camp experience.
Camp 5: Round Up Riding Camp - AGES 5-12
Same as Camp 2.
Camp 6: Little Buckaroos Riding Camp - AGES 4-7
Join our-day immersion camp that allows younger campers to learn to ride and care for their horses at their own speed. This is a great opportunity for little ones to gain skills in a safe environment with the added support of our loving volunteers and therapy horses.
