Diabetes Center: Services

Comprehensive Diabetes Education
Whether you are recently diagnosed or have lived with diabetes for many years, ongoing education is essential to maintaining good health. The more you know about your diabetes, the more effective you will be in controlling it. The following educational programs are designed using national diabetes education standards to help you successfully manage your diabetes.

Self-Management Class
This class is for individuals interested in learning how to manage their diabetes, care for themselves, and control blood glucose levels. This program has been recognized by the American Diabetes Association (ADA). If you are newly diagnosed with diabetes you should start with this class.

Nutrition I Class
Basic information is covered including when, what and how much to eat when managing diabetes. It also includes basic training on carbohydrate counting and understanding the impact of food on blood sugar.

Counting Carbohydrates Class
Carbohydrate counting methods in blood sugar control is introduced. Hands-on practice is provided to help you identify carbohydrate content in foods while including them in a healthy diet.

Understanding Fats & Cholesterol Class
Information on what you should know about high cholesterol and using strategies of diet and exercise to achieve a healthier cholesterol level.


Additional Information
All classes are held at the Bozeman Deaconess Diabetes Center in the Outpatient Services building at 120 North 19th Ave. Registration and a physicianÃŒs referral are required. Please call 406-522-4601 to register or for more information. Unless otherwise specified, your insurance will be billed for the cost of the class.
