With a team of outstanding physicians and a nationally recognized Diabetes Care Center, St. Elizabeth’s provides comprehensive, state-of-the-art care, education and support for adults with diabetes. Our goal is to help patients effectively manage their diabetes, prevent complications, and live life to its fullest.

The diabetes team is led by board-certified specialists who work closely with primary care physicians and St Elizabeth’s cardiologists, vascular surgeons, wound care experts, and diabetes educators. All offer the latest treatments and technologies with the compassionate, individualized attention for which this hospital is known.

St. Elizabeth’s patient-focused programs and specialized services include:

* A combined Diabetes and Cardiovascular Clinic in which patients can see multiple physicians in a single visit to the hospital.
* The St. Elizabeth’s Diabetes Care Center offering comprehensive education and ongoing support for diabetic patients and their families. The Center, which is certified by the American Diabetes Association, also provides specialized services for patients with gestational diabetes, abnormal lipid levels, high blood pressure, obesity and kidney disease.

The latest technologies include:

Continuous glucose monitoring systems (CGMS), in which sensors on the skin monitor patients’ glucose levels 24-hours a day so that physicians can better assess blood sugar control.
*
Insulin pumps, which are inserted under the skin to deliver insulin at prescribed rates.
*
Insulin pens, which may sometimes be used instead of syringes to inject insulin.

St. Elizabeth’s diabetes specialists, all faculty members at the Tufts University School of Medicine, are involved in teaching and clinical research.

All services are carried out at St. Elizabeth’s convenient Boston campus, where free valet parking for patients and inexpensive visitor parking are readily available.
