Provider Description
Serves the needs of 60,000 Rhode Islanders diagnosed as having diabetes as well as 25,000 persons in the state who have the disease and do not know it. Provides patient and professional education programs. Distributes literature, sponsors support groups. Funds diabetes research. Provides youth programs and education for children with diabetes. Staffs a pharmacist, certified in diabetes counseling, who meets with patients individually or in groups. Provides up to $200 for diabetes-related medication, insurance and/or food. Income Source: Membership fees, memorial donations; fund raising events; corporate fund raising.
