Diabetes and Lipid Clinic of Alaska is a multi-disciplinary clinic that was established in 2007 by Dr. Ross Tanner. The purpose of the clinic is to serve as a resource for patients with not only with diabetes but also elevated blood pressure or cholesterol problems. Special emphasis is placed on the prevention of complications through a combination of different treatment modalities. They include but are not limited to education in dietary management through nutritionists, establishing exercise programs with the help of exercise physiologists and the implementation of medications which compliment the patients’ state. By utilizing this proactive approach, many patients are on fewer medications with better control of their condition and experience fewer complications.
