Preliminary Conference Information
Children with Diabetes, Inc. (CWD) presents our very first annual family conference in the UK! Join our international group of world-renowned clinicians, researchers, physicians, adults, children, and families with diabetes to learn the most current information in diabetes care. Attend educational sessions and get cutting-edge ideas for your family's diabetes management. Participate in parent discussion groups and find new, creative ways to help and motivate your children. Watch toddlers and teens, young parents and grandparents, new diabetes professionals and practiced clinicians make new and lifelong friendships. This is a conference you won't ever forget! All presentations, activities and additional information will be provided in English only.

The Conference Schedule in a Nutshell
Friday, August 14, 2009: Registration opens at 16:00. Grand Opening of the Exhibit Area at 19:00, including dinner for all participants
Saturday, August 15, 2009: sessions for adults and children all day (including grandparents); BBQ dinner, weather permitting – otherwise dinner indoors; teens have their own dinner and social function
Sunday, August 16, 2009: Sessions for adults and children all day (including grandparents); Teens will be together offsite, with teen faculty and staff during the day, at the (destination tbd)
Beaumont offers many sport and leisure facilities including outdoor tennis courts, football pitch, indoor swimming pool, outdoor giant chess and lots of open green lawn to play on. During the Children's sessions, weather permitting, all age groups will enjoy outside fun time as part of their daily programme; this is built right into the schedule. Programme details for each age group will be available on the CWD website beginning March 1, 2009.
For the structured programme, children are divided into the following groups: Elementary (Primary) (ages 6-9), Tween (ages 10-12), Teen (ages 13-17), and childcare (ages 5 and under).
The Conference Venue and Reservations
Located a short distance from Windsor Great Park, Beaumont House, Old Windsor is the largest of the Principal Hayley conference venues set in 40 acres of landscaped grounds, dating back to the 14th century. With a hugely impressive colonnaded portico, the building has been beautifully refurbished throughout and offers exceptional service in keeping with the tradition and majesty of the exclusive royal borough.
Although offering a secluded environment, Beaumont House is only 5 minutes from the M25 and M4 motorways.
Following extensive investment over recent years, all of the 414 bedrooms offer the utmost in comfort and contemporary design. Clean lines combine with the highest quality fabrics to create a fresh and profoundly relaxing environment. In the newly designed rooms, soft, brown-suede headboards sit atop luxurious beds scattered with both decorative and supportive cushions. All of the rooms have thick, soft mattress toppers and luxurious pillows, to ensure a restful night's sleep. And each room comes complete with its own en-suite facilities, including bath and shower.

All meeting and function spaces at the Beaumont House are non-smoking. Parking is complimentary.
There are several types of rooms to accommodate different size and make-up of families. They include:
Twin rooms (2 twin beds)
Double bed rooms with sofa bed (can sleep 2 adults and 2 children)
Double bed rooms with rollaway (can sleep 2 adults and 1 child)
Double bed rooms (can sleep 2 adults)
Room rates include bed and breakfast. Rates per night are as follows:
2 adults with 1 child = £105.00
2 adults with 2 children = £110.00
2 adults = £100.00
2 children = £70.00
1 adult with 1 child = £80.00
1 adult with 2 children = £100.00
Please phone the hotel if you have questions about which type of room best suits your family. Note that it may be preferable for larger families to reserve two rooms. The Beaumont House will accept reservations for this conference beginning December 1, 2008. When making a reservation, you must indicate that you are attending the Children with Diabetes, Friends for Life conference in order to get the preferred rate. Reservations are first-come, first-served. It is anticipated that this event will sell out, so please make your reservations early. For those who wish to stay at the Beaumont House and holiday in the area, the preferential bed and breakfast rate may be extended one week prior to, and one week after the conference.
Note: You must register separately for the conference and hotel. Conference registration will be online from January 1, 2009. Registering for the hotel does not register your family for the conference itself. Hotel registration begins December 1, 2008.
