Come Share the Adventure! - one week of something extraordinary and a lifetime of memories. The American Diabetes Association’s Camp Midicha has many fun and exciting activities for children and teenagers with type 1 and type 2 diabetes.

ADA Camp Midicha is FULL. No additional applications are being accepted. However, if you would like to receive the 2009 ADA Camp Midicha brochure next year, send an e-mail to apowell@diabetes.org to be added to that list.

Explorers Day Camp

Explorers Day Camp Takes campers on a week long journey of fun and personal discovery. Whether it’s shooting a bow and arrow, searching for imaginary gold, or fishing for "Big Charlie," campers love each new day of exploration. Excellent staff to camper ratios make for a safe, meaningful, and action-packed week. Includes daily lunch and snacks.
Ages: 5-8
Cost: $235 (8:00 am - 5:00 pm)

Midicha Adventurers

Let the adventure begin! Kids experience favorites like aqua jump, swimming, fishing, archery, and more. Campers come home having grown in confidence and self-esteem, not to mention having made some new best friends. Evenings present many more adventures and pure MIDICHA fun!

Midicha Trailblazers

Voyagers experience an array of adventures ranging from “the blob,” nature exploration, kayaking, climbing tower, and the “double decker” high ropes course. Specially designed activities are also planned for an age group that wants to try everything. Voyagers gain valuable memories while learning new skills, experiencing non-stop fun and building lasting friendships.

Teen Midicha

Teen Midicha is tailored to teen interest and challenge level and is the culmination of the whole Camp Midicha experience. Teen’s stay in our Teen Village and tailor their week to individual interests. Favorite activities such as horesbackriding, “Creek Freek” zip line, banana tubing, lilly pad leaping, and much more are geared to the older campers ready to try some new adventures.

Midicha Mosaic

For those who believe variety is the spice of life, this trip is for you! The fun begins as campers head northeast to Lake Huron and learn to sail on a tall ship. Our compass then points west to Ludington where campers will enjoy hiking, a lighthouse tour, swimming canoeing, and dune buggy ride. The medley continues with a bike rides along trail paths en route to a gem factory tour and working dairy farm. Teens will love an evening of shopping in Grand Haven concluding with a performance by the world’s largest musical fountain. The Mosaic Grand Finale is a full day at the Michigan’s Adventure Theme Park.

Xtreme Midicha

Adventure enthusiasts can’t miss this experience! Teens are invited for a wild week in rugged Pennsylvania. Beginning with an underground caving excursion to Laurel Caverns, this trip will keep building with excitement. Xtremers will have a blast white water rafting down the Lower Youghiogheny, mountain biking along the rivers edge, battling it out in a game of capture the flag – paintball style, and sliding down natural water slides. Xtremers will check in at Camp Midicha and leave by mini-bus to destination.

Counselor-in-Training

Camp Midicha campers become part of the “Midicha Family” when they reach their teenage years and start looking to the future and how to become counselors. This program is a great first step. The C.I.T. Program is designed to continue making camp fun, while also creating opportunities to develop leadership skills. C.I.T.’s learn the importance of a strong work ethic and those ever-important ‘people skills’. The program begins with great team building activities and an action packed weekend in between sessions. Application and interview required for admission. **Must have completed the 11th grade.
Residential - Cabins, 3 nights of tents
Age: 17
Cost: $500 (2 week program with weekend stay over).

ADA Partner

Do you have diabetes? Do you have enthusiasm for working with kids? Have you been a camper and want to continue as a counselor? Become an ADA Partner! Your strong work ethic and great ‘people skills’ will prove valuable in this job. Enjoy your two weeks teaching kids teamwork, communication and how to have fun! You can help mentor kids and teach other counselors about diabetes.

Important Camper Application Information

There are two ways to begin your registration process for American Diabetes Association (ADA) Camp.

1. Download the Camp Brochure. Complete and mail the Camp Brochure pre-registration form with required fee(s) to your local ADA office (address is on brochure).

Upon receiving your pre-registration form, the American Diabetes Association will mail a complete application packet to you. Complete and return these forms via U.S. Postal Mail to the local ADA as soon as possible so that your application can be processed.

2. Begin your Camper registration online.



Once you are done completing the online registration, you will be redirected to this page to download the following Supplemental Camper Application Forms, which require parent/guardian signatures or signatures from your child’s health care provider:

Submit these forms via U.S. Postal Mail to your local American Diabetes Association as soon as possible so that your complete application can be processed.

Once all Camper Application forms and payments are received online and via mail, the local American Diabetes Association will contact you regarding acceptance to Camp and provide you with additional information about Camp (i.e., check-in information, what to pack).

IMPORTANT: Completion of these steps holds a spot at Camp for your child until we have reached program capacity. You must complete and submit all Supplemental Camper Application forms and payment at least 10 days prior to the Camp session to secure this spot for your child. All camper forms are reviewed by our Camp medical team to ensure that we can accommodate your child and provide a safe environment for them to fully participate in the camping program.
