Instead of a conventional needle, the Injex system employs an injection ampule with a micro orifice of just 0.17 mm. By comparison, the diameter of the thinnest needle is 0.25 mm. Using high pressure created by a compressed spring within the Injex, the medicine is propelled into the subcutaneous disposed tissue (hypodermic application). Penetration depth is 4 to 9 mm, depending on the injected volume of the drug.
