Join us in Orlando for the American Diabetes Association’s 24th Annual Southern Regional Conference, May 21-24, 2009, at the Omni Orlando Resort at ChampionsGate. The entire diabetes team, including physicians, family physicians, physicians assistants, podiatric physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, dietitians, and psychologists will benefit from a comprehensive diabetes update and stimulating networking opportunity. Review the latest pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment strategies to optimize outcomes for patients with diabetes.
Review starting basal insulin as well as basal-bolus insulin in diabetes management strategies.
Utilize best management practices for treatment of diabetes in diverse populations and communities.
Identify diabetes related reproductive issues unique to women or to men and corresponding approaches to common concerns.
Explore ways to optimize nutrition and introduce exercise to modify energy balance toward improving outcomes for patients.
Provide evidence for new treatment strategies and motivational techniques used to optimize the achievement glucose targets for patients with diabetes.
Discuss the essential role of advocacy in healthcare and highlight some of the major successes pertaining to employment issues, diabetes care at school and the importance of the Americans with Disabilities Act Amendment Act.
Program Goals
The program goals are to provide state-of-the-art, practical information about the management of diabetes and to improve both the quality of care provided to all people with diabetes, and diabetes patient outcomes.
