EPDA History
The El Paso Diabetes Association has been serving the El Paso community since 1968, as an independent and local not-for-profit diabetes association. The El Paso Diabetes Association has chosen not to affiliate with any state or national diabetes organizations in order to offer programs and services relevant to the El Paso community. To date, the El Paso Diabetes Association is the only independent not-for-profit diabetes association in the State of Texas.

Our vision is to eliminate diabetes or its complications. We accomplish our vision by empowering, detecting, promoting, and providing access to diabetes services for families residing in El Paso and the surronding communities.

In 2006, diabetes emergencies cost our local hospitals an excess of 50 million dollars. Most of these costs could have been avoided. Our dollars could have been better spent. These dollars do not include loss of productivity and the emotional and psychological toll on the families affected. As if this were not bad enough, our children are now developing type 2 diabetes. One in four El Paso children are at-risk for diabetes.

The El Paso Diabetes Association is pleased to offer multiple services as you can see under the programs and services tab.

Our services are made possible through multiple sources of funding. Gifts to the El Paso Diabetes Association are fully tax-deductible as applicable by Texas state law.

Please call us at (915) 532-6280 or visit us at 2101 Oregon Street. It would be our pleasure to serve you.
