Camp Seale Harris residential diabetes education programs, and Junior and Senior Camps, are held at Camp ASCCA, located on picturesque Lake Martin near Alexander City, AL. Children participate in a wide assortment of recreational activities, such as swimming, tubing, horseback, canoeing, fishing, riflery, archery, sports and games, rappelling, arts and crafts, dances, zip-line rides, playground, and various evening program activities.

Family Weekends or Summer Family Camp … Families who attend learn from diabetes professionals who speak about what is important in the care of a child who lives with diabetes. Have an enjoyable time while learning with your family at Camp Seale Harris!

Camp Sugar Falls … is a day camp for children with diabetes, ages 6 - 16 years. A brother, sister or friend also in this age range may attend. Programs are currently being held at two locations – Birmingham and the SW Alabama area. A wide assortment of recreational activities is offered, such as swimming, kayaking, snorkeling, tennis, shooting sports, archery, group initiatives and games.

Diabetes Education is the key ingredient of all programs. In addition to structured daily education sessions that teach skills helpful to managing diabetes, numerous teachable moments occur throughout each day as children encounter the challenges of living with diabetes. A comprehensive medical team provides education and encouragement to participants of our programs and medical care to children who attend our children’s programs. Many of our volunteers have diabetes and offer their insight regarding living successfully with this health condition to children and family members attending our programs. All activities are designed to encourage a positive approach to living with diabetes!

Camp Seale Harris and Camp Sugar Falls are independently operated camps for which the American Diabetes Association provides marketing and financial support.
