Do you have Type 2 Diabetes and suffer from depression? CBT Treatment Study

The research study examines whether cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) can improve mood and self-care in patients with Type 2 diabetes who suffer from depression. All study participants receive nutrition counseling and diabetes education. They then receive either one session of counseling to improve their diabetes care, or 10-12 CBT sessions focusing on improving diabetes depression and self-care. All participants will also come to four major assessment visits, which include blood draws, a psychodiagnositic interview, a neuropsychological assessment, and self-completed questionnaires. All participants will receive a year’s worth of diabetes glucose monitoring supplies including: a glucometer, test strips, lancets, and control solution. Participants will also be given $25 for each major visit they complete.

You may qualify if:
You are between ages 18-70.
You have Type 2 Diabetes.
You are currently taking an oral anti-diabetic medication, insulin, or both.
You are feeling down or depressed.
