Camp Little Shot provides a free summer camp for kids from the age 6 to 18 with diabetes to play and have fun with others who face the same challenges they face.

The camp was founded by Dr. Jones in 1980 soon after he arrived in Macon. It starts out as a place for diabetic children to have fun knowing that medical experts are there to take care of them. Then as the campers become older they are ready to start being more aggressive with learning more about carbohydrate counting and the insulin pump. Campers also learn about taking care of themselves to prevent complications and how to manage diabetes in a life with social peers.

Camp Little Shot has grown from a one-day camp to a five-day camp and has touched thousands of lives. It is fully supported by donations from both corporations and private individuals. Camp Little Shot is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Contributions are fully tax deductible. For more information about Camp Little Shot call The Jones Center at 478-746-8626.
