About the Service:
Community Dietitians are experts, trained to provide impartial and unbiased nutritional advice to individuals, families and groups within the Community. We aim to provide a high quality service to all sections of the community including older people, individuals with special needs and children.

Our goal is to improve your health and well-being by increasing awareness of the link between nutrition, health and well-being and through the prevention and treatment of nutrition related diseases.

What do we do?

The Community Dietitians based at the Admin Building, Forster Green Hospital, provide advice to people at GP surgeries, as well as at other clinics, health centres, care homes and people’s own homes.

• Diabetes

• Weight problems

• Bowel disorders

• Heart health

• Cancer

• Kidney diseases

• Child and adolescent health

• Liver disease

• Eating Disorders eg. Anorexia Nervosa

• Swallowing problems

• Poor appetite

• Tube feeding

• Women’s health and pregnancy

Community Dietitians work with a range of Health Care professionals including G.P’s, nurses, Speech and Language Therapists, Dental staff, Social workers and Health Promotion amongst others.

Community Dietitians provide specialist services in Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, diabetes, learning disability, paediatrics and palliative care.

Accessing the Service:
To see a Community Dietitian for individual advice a referral is needed from either a GP or Hospital Dietitian. Once this referral has been received, an appointment is arranged.
