iving with Diabetes

Diabetes is a chronic disease that can cause serious damage to almost every part of your body—the heart, blood vessels, kidneys, eyes, and nerves. It is the leading cause of blindness, kidney disease, and amputations. What is even more alarming is that more people are suffering from diabetes in the Mississippi Delta than almost anywhere else in the country.

The Diabetes Center, a service of Delta Regional Medical Center, can help diabetic patients learn to manage their disease. The center provides valuable information and services that can help patients take charge in the fight against the long-term effects of diabetes.

The Diabetes Center has a highly skilled team of professionals including physicians, nurses, dietitians, and clinical pharmacists.
Services Provided at The Diabetes Center:

* Medical management - diabetes, blood pressure, and cholesterol
* Meal planning and nutritional counseling
* Insulin administration instruction
* Blood glucose self-management training
* Medication adjustment
* Lifestyle modification classes for exercise, weight loss, and healthy eating

All patients who have been diagnosed with diabetes are eligible to participate. The Diabetes Center accepts Medicare and most insurance plans with physician referral.

Ask your physician for a referral or call The Diabetes Center at 662-378-1227.

The Diabetes Center is a partnership between Delta Regional Medical Center, Delta Health Alliance, and the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMC).
