Each day over 2500 Americans are told they have diabetes. That kind of news given to you or a loved one can be frightening and you may feel out of control. But don't give up! There is good news.

The good news is that YOU are in control and with our help; you can learn to manage your blood glucose levels. By keeping your blood glucose as close to normal as possible you can avoid most of the devastating complications of diabetes and experience a better quality of life than you may expect. You will improve your health and feel more like doing the things you enjoy.

The Diabetes & Nutrition Center is staffed by certified diabetes educators, dietitians, and registered nurses who will help you learn to eat healthy meals, exercise and take your medicines the best way. We provide this education and support in our convenient outpatient centers and in our hospitals.

The Diabetes & Nutrition Center outpatient education program receives Recognition from the American Diabetes Association! The ADA recognition effort, which began in the fall of 1986, is a voluntary process which assures that approved education programs have met the National Standards for Diabetes Self-Management Education Programs. Programs that achieve recognition status have a staff of knowledgeable health professionals who can provide state-of-the-art information about diabetes management for participants, which is an essential component of effective diabetes treatment. For more information, please visit the American Diabetes Association website at www.diabetes.org/Recognition.
