Unfortunately, there are no symptoms of diabetic nephropathy while the disease is in its early stages.1 As the disease progresses, however, symptoms such as fatigue, headache, foaming urine, nausea, and lack of appetite typically appear.2 Swelling and weight gain (from excessive fluids) usually do not appear until the disease is in later stages.2
