The Endocrinology & Diabetes Centre has for many years been recognised as the Northern Ireland Centre for treatment of both inpatients and outpatients with endocrine disorders and is the final point of referral for complex diabetes related problems. The centre also offers a service to all boards and general practices in more routine aspects of the speciality. This includes specialist management of acute diabetes and endocrine emergencies. In all types of endocrine disorders patient education is important. The new purpose built centre increases the ability to deliver a comprehensive service.

• Joint diabetes/obstetric clinic

Dietitian
• Endocrine weight management clinic
• Diabetes weight management clinic
• Type 2 review clinic
• ‘Drop in’ service

Nurse Led
• Thyroid clinic
• Type 2 review clinic
• Type 2 new patient clinic
• ‘Drop in’ service
• Type 1 patients commencing on insulin
• Type 1 patients commencing on insulin pumps

Podiatry
• Assessment, treatment and review clinics.

The centre has a strong educational ethos.
