Family Resource Network (FRN) serving the Baton Rouge, Louisiana area offers opportunities to provide support, education and networking for families newly diagnosed or just experiencing rough times with diabetes.
Opportunities include:
Social and educational events: Bring the whole family and meet other families of children with diabetes while learning about the latest in research or diabetes management. Social and educational events are held three times a year throughout South Louisiana and everyone is invited.
Family Link Mentors: Make the link with parent volunteers who as Family Link Mentors are trained to offer appropriate support for families in need whether newly diagnosed or experiencing issues related to having diabetes for some time. Mentors can be there to offer support during the first few difficult months following diagnosis to offer hope and connect you with other parents, information and upcoming events. They can also be there to talk about school related issues. Being a parent of a child with diabetes, Family Link Mentors know the issues you face day to day.
Family Link Mentors receive background checks and ongoing training to ensure you receive the latest information and appropriate support.
