PROGRAM PURPOSE
The purpose of this program is to share information relative to assessment, clinical management, self-management, and teaching/learning approaches for
diverse populations with diabetes; and to discuss current and future technologies in these areas.
TARGET AUDIENCE
Healthcare professionals including nurses, dietitians, pharmacists, social workers, exercise physiologists, public health educators and anyone who is interested in working with people with diabetes. Students are welcome.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
At the completion of the program, the participant will be able to:
* describe how the Chronic Care Model improves diabetes education and care.
* compare a variety of electronic technologies that can be utilized to improve care for people with diabetes.
* discuss the possible causes and management of the sexual complications diagnosed in people with diabetes.
* describe the future for diabetes educators from a political perspective.
