Welcome
The Tennessee Camp for Diabetic Children (TCDC) is located on Lake Chickamauga in Soddy, Tennessee, just north of Chattanooga. The camp is committed to teaching children with diabetes how to live a normal and active lifestyle.

TCDC incorporates educational sessions into daily activities by providing fun learning programs geared toward juvenile diabetes management. Using games, hands-on assistance, and videos, campers learn procedures and techniques to use daily for achieving glucose control.

The Camp
TCDC provides young people with diabetes a vast array of benefits. The medical staff conducts educational sessions geared to enhance campers' knowledge of their diabetes. Doctors, nurses, and dietitians work individually with campers to educate them on the importance of blood glucose control. This includes discussions on meal planning, insulin dosage requirements, exercise, and blood glucose testing. Lessons learned during the two week session
can be used throughout the entire year.

Camp Activities
TCDC also offers a variety of fun activities. Swimming instruction with trained certified personnel allows campers to complete beginner through advanced swimming classes. Other activities include canoeing, mountain biking, archery, arts and crafts, environmental awareness, and outdoor camping trips. As an added activity, 15-year-old graduating campers can look forward to an overnight camping adventure that includes caving and whitewater canoeing on the Hiwassee River.
