Fraternities and sororities are known throughout the Fargo-Moorhead community for the time and energy their members put into local service projects and fundraising campaigns. Last year, the NDSU Greek community collectively served over 5,500 hours of service and raised nearly $100,000 to benefit local, regional, and national non-profit organizations. The Children’s Miracle Network, Relay for Life-American Cancer Society, Juvenile Diabetes Association, Special Olympics of North Dakota, Nokomis Child Care Center, Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), Adopt-A-Highway, Prevent Child Abuse America, Girl Scouts, Big Brother/Big Sister, and Ronald McDonald House are just a few of the non-profit organizations supported by NDSU fraternities and sororities.

Members participate individually and in groups with a number of local churches, nursing homes, food pantries, childcare centers, hospitals, animal clinics, schools, group homes, and homeless shelters that need assistance on an regular basis. The majority of fraternities and sororities have service hour requirements that members meet each semester. Many members go above and beyond the number of hours required and some obtain internships with the organizations they have served. Greek students value the experiences they have with these organizations and the people that are served.

Several of the fraternities and sororities have developed a number of annual events that occur to raise money and awareness for local and national non-profit organizations. The Teeter-AThon, 3-on-3 Basketball tournaments, Freeze-A-Thon, Mr. NDSU mock beauty pageant, Swing-A-Thon, Pedal for Pets, Bounce-A-Thon, Kicks for CASA, Miss NDSU mock beauty pageant, Trick-or-Treat for Spare Change, Spaghetti Feeds, and Bail & Jails take place annually to support these non-profit organizations.

What do you plan to get out of your college experience at NDSU?
Joining a fraternity or sorority will compliment whatever you hope to get out of the time you are here at NDSU. As values-based organizations, the fraternities and sororities at NDSU enhance the collegiate experience by assisting members with their academic goals, strengthening leadership skills, developing life-long friendships, encouraging active involvement throughout campus, volunteering time at local non-profit organizations and raising money for a variety of philanthropies, all while developing better men and women.

The members of the NDSU Greek community invite you to join us and learn more about the benefits to joining a fraternity or sorority during recruitment. Recruitment events are designed to allow you to discover how you will benefit
as a member and in return how the Greek community will benefit by having you as a member. All events are free and there is no obligation to join. Learn more about How to Join.
