Event Information
Recreational and avid cyclists alike can experience a scenic ride through some beautiful areas of Livingston County by riding in our 2009 Tour de Cure. No matter which route you choose you’ll be able to enjoy the serenity of Island Lake Recreation Area, a natural treasure in southeast Michigan. Most riders will also get to experience cycling around Kensington Metro Park while those who enjoy longer distances will find themselves cycling around the GM Proving Grounds and right through lovely downtown Milford. Chose one of six routes designed to present the right level of challenge for your ability. No matter which ride you choose, we promise you’ll have a memorable day while helping in the fight against diabetes.

Rest stops will be available every 10-15 miles on each course and will offer sports drinks, water and an assortment of goodies to keep you fueled and refreshed. Throughout the ride, you’ll be fully supported by our dedicated team of volunteers including support vehicles, bike techs (located at each rest stop and the start/finish area) and medical help if needed. We will also have course marshals stationed along the course to assist you and to help ensure you have a safe ride.

You’ll be welcomed back at the finish line with great food provided by Carrabba’s Italian Grill, cheering fans, live entertainment, and, of course, the always popular massage tent to ease those sore muscles. We will also have a silent auction on site with a lot of great items available to bid on. All proceeds will directly benefit the 2009 Tour de Cure.

Tour de Cure is a series of fund-raising cycling events held in 40 states nationwide to benefit the American Diabetes Association.

The Tour is a ride, not a race, with routes designed for everyone from the occasional rider to the experienced cyclist. Whether participants ride 10 miles or 100 miles*, they will travel a route supported from start to finish with rest stops, food to fuel the journey and fans to cheer them on!

Last year, more than 32,000 cyclists in 78 Tour events raised nearly $13 million to support the mission of the ADA: to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes.
