Welcome to the Louisiana Chapter of JDRF!

JDRF is the leading charitable funder and advocate of type 1 (juvenile) diabetes research worldwide. The mission of JDRF is to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research. Type 1 diabetes is a disease which strikes children suddenly and requires multiple injections of insulin daily or a continuous infusion of insulin through a pump. Insulin, however, is not a cure for diabetes, nor does it prevent its devastating complications.

Since its founding in 1970 by parents of children with type 1 diabetes, JDRF has awarded more than $1.16 billion to diabetes research, including more than $137 million in FY2007. In FY2007, the Foundation funded 700 centers, grants and fellowships in 20 countries.

The Louisiana Chapter of JDRF is committed to the mission of finding the cure. Our Chapter staff in Baton Rouge along with our branch boards in Baton Rouge, New Orleans, and Shreveport, as well as our volunteers and donors throughout Louisiana are working diligently to raise funds in support of the mission while providing outreach and support to families in Louisiana affected by diabetes. The combined efforts of staff, volunteers, board members, and donors are designed to provide support and hope to our fellow citizens who depend upon JDRF for hope and for improvement in their lives.

Our Chapter manages and executes fundraising and outreach events in support of JDRF. Please visit any of the following for more information about our upcoming events in Louisiana.

With your help, we are moving research from the laboratory bench to the patient's bedside, translating scientific advances into longer, healthier lives for those with diabetes. With your help, we are moving closer to our goal ... a cure for diabetes and its complications.
