Liraglutide: Liraglutide is in a new class of drugs called GLP-1 analogues that lower blood glucose levels. Liraglutide will stimulate insulin secretion only when blood glucose levels are higher than normal, which will decrease the risk of hypoglycemia. Taking medication is not a guarantee that blood sugar levels will be kept at acceptable levels; diabetics need to test their blood sugar with either a blood glucose meter or blood sugar monitor.
